The Importance of Checking Your Car Insurance for UM Coverage
Did you know that you may not have any sources of recovery if you are injured in a car accident by an uninsured motorist? You may have what you believe to be "full coverage" but that may not include uninsured/under-insured motorist (UM/UIM) coverage. This is extremely important in Florida, because the minimum insurance required by the state does not require drivers to maintain bodily injury coverage to protect those who they hit.
All to often we meet with people who are badly injured in a car accident caused by an uninsured or under-insured motorist and unless the injured victim has their own UM/UIM coverage they are often times unable to recover compensation for their permanent injuries.
We recommend you take a look at your insurance policy or speak with your insurance agent to make sure you are covered if you were to be hit by an uninsured or under-insured motorist.
